"New Basalt Boat" (N.B.B.) Project (October 28, 2009)

CPTM, in collaboration with several shipyards situated in Cecina and Rosignano, in the province of Livorno, is working for the realization of the first boat produced using basalt fibre. The boat (a 10 m long professional fishing boat) will be realized completely substituting glass fibre, currently used worldwide for this application, with basalt fibre. The end of work is scheduled for October 2011, in agreement with the closure of the regional project financing the boat production.

SO.MA.IN. Project (October 28, 2009)

The SO.MA.IN. project ("Subsystems and innovative materials for the integrated management of the life cycle of pleasure boats"), co-financed by the Tuscan region, focuses its attention in the field of big yachts (over 30 m long) Refit & Repair. Inside this project, CPTM gives its support about the employment and the exploitation of the properties of basalt fibre, in particular for its use in fire-proof and acoustic insulation equipment

PROGETTO C.S.B. (2000-2006)

The project aimed to the development and consolidation of the technological tranfer network "BasaltNet", whose objective is the exploitation of innovative technical possibilities connected with basalt fibres.
